Long before Cyberpunk 2077's embattled release, we already knew that were was post-launch content coming - a lot of it. CD Projekt Red revealed pretty early on that they will follow the post-launch model proven to work by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Here's everything we know about the upcoming expansions and free content.

What kind of DLC can we expect?
Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a great deal of small DLC packages bringing individual items, cosmetics, minor features and maybe a loose mission or two for free, available to all players who own the game, throughout the upcoming year and beyond.
You shouldn't expect anything game changing, but additional content is always welcome - it's free, right? Think new weapons, outfits for V, character customization options and the like. Considering the development cycle of these things, most if not all the content has already been planned out and much already created, but who knows, maybe the most requested features by the community will make it in too. We'd love to be able to customize V after starting the game, for example.
Alongside these free goodies, Cyberpunk 2077's storyline will continue in at least two major paid expansion packs. If The Witcher 3's Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are any indication, expect entirely new locations, characters and dozens of hours of fresh gameplay. Considering the ending(s) of Cyberpunk 2077 as it is, we can definitely see some major narrative potential.
Due to the thematic importance of Night City, we suspect new locations will focus mostly on the Badlands. That said, CD Projekt Red hasn't been very forthcoming with information yet.
When will Cyberpunk 2077 DLC release?
We don't know! CD Projekt Red stated that we'll start seeing bits of DLC launch in early 2021, but following the turbulence around Cyberpunk 2077's December launch patience is in order. We'd hazard a guess that content will start dropping in the spring.
As for the major expansions, you're probably going to have to wait a little longer. We know that multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077 will only launch as late as sometime 2022, and we wouldn't bet on expansions arriving any sooner either.
The main game was delayed several times and even so launched with a notorious amount of bugs across all platforms. Patching and fixing the game is the current priority for the developers, and the lack of a concrete release date for the DLC means they can quietly delay it without fanfare.
On the other hand, when patches solve the technical issues there's a better chance that DLC development will proceed on track and release promptly.
How much will Cyberpunk 2077 DLC cost?
You're in luck, because most of it will be free! The frequent, smaller updates will be available to all owners of Cyberpunk 2077 at no extra cost. You can all enjoy the cosmetic bonuses, minor features and one-off missions right off the bat.
The larger expansions will require purchase, but we don't have any pricing information just yet - we don't even know how large they will be. For reference, the expansions for The Witcher 3 were $9.99 and $19.99 on launch, respectively, with the latter packing more content than some entire games do. We can probably expect the same magnitude with the expansions that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive.
Considering the storyline of the game and the timeline of the narrative these expansions will take place after the main story has ended, rather than during. We're guessing the situation that persists at the end of the game will be resolved in some manner, however the incompatibility of this with some of the endings raises interesting questions. It's possible that some endings will be canonized for simplicity as has been done with games in the past, but we have to wait and see.
We'll be keeping this article up to date with new information as it becomes available.
